Prandelli Announces English Players Are No Good

Standard

Cesare Prandelli has stunned everyone by stating that he would not take any of the players from the England national team into the Italian national team. England are considered as one of the top teams in world football, but they have been unable to win a major trophy since 1966. They will go into the upcoming World Cup 2014 with aspirations of reaching the quarter-finals only. This is because they come up against former world champions Italy and Uruguay in the group stage.

Italy come into the tournament as one of the favourites to win the title after having reached the Euro 2012 final only two years ago. Prandelli has managed to assemble a great looking Italian team that has the right mixture of youth and experience. He has been receiving a lot of plaudits for his work in the last few years. He reckons that the Italian team is now so strong that he will not consider taking any player from the England team. He also says that he has complete faith in the players from Italy.

Despite such statements, Prandelli acknowledged that England manager Roy Hodgson has definitely found some interesting players for the national team. Hodgson is expected to announce a youthful looking squad for the World Cup.

“Hodgson has found some very interesting players. In particular when you consider them from a physical perspective. They are very technical and resistant. They are a very, very strong team. They have some interesting young players. Until around a year ago no one thought they would be able to make an impression in the Premier League. But I wouldn’t take anyone to have instead of my own players. We are a good team too,” said Prandelli.
Prandelli has refused to talk about his future with his contract coming to an end.

PRANDELLI SIGNS ON

After managing to agree a contract extension with the Italian football Federation, Cesare Prandelli has outlined his vision of the way his players should behave at the World Cup 2014. Prandelli has received a lot of admirers for the way he has transformed in ageing Italian team into one of the dominant forces in world football. They are on the cusp of winning a major trophy. They came close to winning the Euro 2012, but they were beaten by his Spanish team that has won the last three major titles.

Prandelli will remain as the national team manager until 2016, which has despised any rumours about him returning to club football. He players should be honoured to represent the Italian team at a major tournament. The former Fiorentina boss has always been strict about discipline. He has not thought twice about removing players, even star names such as De Rossi, from the team if he thought that they are disruptive influence. The Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi was even left out of the recent friendly matches due to indiscipline.

Prandelli has now lay down marker after announcing his extended stay with the national team. It is expected that those who do not comply will not be on the plane to Brazil.

“I want players who feel honoured to wear the Azzurri shirt, because you have to win not only with technique but also with behaviour. Someone who spits in the face of a rival or repeatedly simulates does not deserve to be called, regardless of how they play. De Rossi? I do not believe he will lose his character. Nobody has complained, not even Daniele, only a few coaches. I do not like arrogance and the fact is that so many take it too seriously,” said Prandelli, whose team will play against the likes of England and Uruguay in the group stages.
