Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli has an interest from a new Premier League team following the news that Liverpool have joined the race to sign him. Italian publication Gazzettadello Sport stated that the Reds are considering a bid for Sassuolo player Locatelli as they look for a quality replacement for GeorginioWijnaldum.
Italy national team star Locatelli has been linked with both Italian champions Juventus and Premier League side Arsenal. The player prefers a move to Juventus but the Italian giants have not been able to agree a deal with Sassuolo who are very clear on Locatelli and his €40m valuation.
Locatelli is in high demand after an impressive season that ended with him celebrating the Euro 2020 title alongside his teammates. He was one of the best midfielders in the Italian top flight last season and was named in the Italy squad for the Euro 2020 tournament. Locatelli started the first two Italy games mainly due to the injury to Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player Marco Verratti. He was a substitute in the Euro 2020 final against hosts England.
Liverpool target Locatelli is expected to know more about his future in the coming weeks though Sassuolo officials are adamant that the player will stay if their valuation is not met. Arsenal have already indicated that they are willing to pay the asking price for Locatelli but he prefers to stay in his native Italy.
